In the summer of 2013, it was reported that internet speeds in the United States ranked 9th with the rest of the world. The average download speed was only 8.6 Mbps. Other countries like South Korea were enjoying speeds of 14.2 Mbps. But this may not be the worst news; those who monitor internet speeds by the minute have said that the United States is not nearly as well off for their internet speeds, that they are actually in the top twenty and not the top ten. And they say that it is policy and not technology that is holding the country back.
